Bashar Murad, a Palestinian artist from East Jerusalem, has actively shared his personal experiences regarding gender and sexuality. As concepts such as “homonationalism” and “pinkwashing” have been analyzed, the discourse surrounding gender and sexuality in the context of Israel and Palestine has long held significant importance within feminist and queer theory, as well as postcolonial studies. This talk will explore how Israel’s occupation, nationalism, colonialism, and racism against Palestinians intersect with issues of gender and sexuality from the perspective of a Palestinian queer artist.
